Tipico – Our Verdict

Tipico Sportsbook may be a name better known to European sports bettors, but I think it’s well worth your time here in the US. While the Tipico sports betting app and desktop site are no-frills and easy to use, Tipico is far from a basic sportsbook. It features live betting, single-game parlays, boosted bets, trending bets, and many more great features.

Unlike a lot of smaller US sportsbook apps, Tipico has lots of awesome promos for existing customers. These offers are typically tailored to your sports betting market, so someone in Ohio will have different sportsbook promos available to players in Colorado. Típico also has a generous welcome bonus. Players in New Jersey, Iowa, or Ohio can claim $100. In Colorado, you can get $150 in bonus bets. Learn how to claim these bonuses and more below.

About Tipico

Tipico is an international sportsbook based in Malta. It was founded in 2004 and made its name in German and Austrian soccer betting markets. Today, Tipico is the biggest sportsbook in Germany and Austria and one of the biggest in Europe overall.

In 2020, Tipico Sportsbook launched across the pond and opened its first US sports betting site in New Jersey. Now, Tipico is legal in four states –New Jersey, Iowa, Ohio, and Colorado. This makes Tipico a pretty small US sportsbook, but with its big reputation in Europe and its recent partnership with Caesars, I could see Tipico becoming one of the big sports betting players in the coming years.

Tipico Mobile Experience

The Tipico Sportsbook app allows you to bet on over 30 sports from the comfort of your home or on the go. The app’s sleek and streamlined layout makes betting on sports super easy, especially if you want to bet on trending picks in your state or boosted bets, which are often highlighted on the app.

The only downside to the Tipico app is that some features take you away from its streamlined nature. For example, the promos page and help center look more like mobile site pages than the rest of the sleekly-designed app.

Tipico Desktop Experience

The Tipico desktop site is super simple and very streamlined. All the most popular sports are lined up along the left side of the screen, along with a full list of possible sports to bet on just below it. At the top of the screen, Tipico has a curated selection of popular bets in your area. This makes it very easy to back best bets with the click of a button.

Another thing I like is that the betslip is conveniently placed on the other side of the screen. This makes parlay betting and keeping your bets organized a breeze.

Tipico Welcome Bonuses

Tipico Sportsbook offers multiple welcome bonuses, depending on your state. Those in Ohio or Colorado can claim $100 in bonus bets from a $25 bet. You must deposit $25 to claim this bonus. Your $100 in bonus bets will be broken down into two $50 bonus bets. For New Jersey bettors, a $25 wager will unlock $150 in bonus bets. Yet, in Iowa, you’ll need to bet at least $50 to receive $150 bonus bets. Both offers are broken down into five $30 bonus bets.

All Tipico Sportsbook welcome bonuses are pretty generous but definitely not as lucrative as what some other sportsbook sites offer. Still, no matter what state you are wagering in, you’ll also instantly be eligible for a 5% cashback bonus on all qualifying bets once you create your account.

Tipico Account Verification

All legal US sports betting states require sportsbooks to verify the identities of their players. Tipico adheres to these laws and will ask you some questions about yourself to prove you are who you say you are. Once you provide your name, date of birth, address, and social security number, Tipico will automatically verify your identity.

Then, before placing your first withdrawal, you’ll need to upload supporting documents to verify your identity and address. These documents typically include:

  • Photo ID (passport, driver’s license, or another formal ID)
  • Proof of address (a recent utility bill)
  • Proof of payment method used (a bank statement or photo of your credit card)

Tipico Payment Methods

Tipico Sportsbook players can make deposits using ACH bank transfers, eChecks, Visa and MasterCard debit/credit cards, PayPal, and Apple Pay. If you need to make a large transaction, wire transfers may also be available. If you’re in New Jersey, cash deposits and withdrawals are also available at the Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City. Every payment method is also available for withdrawals.

Tipico makes up for its limited banking options by having fair terms. Deposits can be as small as $10, maximum withdrawals are higher than at other sites, and Tipico never charges transaction fees.

Tipico Betting Features

Tipico has all the great betting features you would expect from a top US sports betting app, including live betting, player props, single-game parlays, boosted bets, and existing customer promotions. However, Tipico also stands out for its “Imperfect Parlay” promo and Tipico rewards promo.

The Imperfect Parlay feature allows you to win something even if one leg of your parlay loses. The specifics of this feature depend on the sporting calendar. For example, during March Madness, if you bet $100 on a four-leg parlay, you could get up to $30 back if one leg of your parlay loses.

On the other hand, the Tipico rewards program is a loyalty program that allows you to unlock bonus bets and other perks as you play.

Tipico Sports and Markets

When Tipico first entered the US sports betting market, it was heavily criticized for having low-value odds compared to the competition. Now, Tipico has adjusted to the US market and has a very competitive betting market for multiple sports.

Football

If there’s any evidence that Tipico has room to grow in the US, it’s with the site’s NFL betting market. Tipico NFL betting odds are competitive but far from industry-leading. Yet, I was pretty disappointed to find that Tipico has fewer NFL betting options, especially fewer futures and prop bets, than other US sportsbooks.

Basketball

Basketball betting at Tipico is one of the site’s strong points. NBA player prop bets and college basketball parlays are especially fun at Tipico. Like with NFL betting, the sportsbook’s odds are good but not the best you’ll find in the US.

Baseball

Baseball is a great place to find value at Tipico. Not only does the sportsbook have a huge MLB betting market with player props, futures, and inning-by-inning team props, but Tipico also has great MLB-specific promos throughout the summer.

Hockey

Like football betting, hockey betting is one area Tipico could do much better at. NHL bets at Tipico are pretty basic, and the odds are standard. Hockey bettors will have enough to get by, but if you’re looking for a comprehensive hockey betting market, Tipico might not be for you.

Tipico Customer Support

You can contact Tipico customer support via email, phone, or the sportsbook’s 24/7 live chat feature. Compared to other US sportsbooks, Tipico offers a great range of customer support options, which I greatly admire from such a small sportsbook.

Tipico also has a great FAQ section with answers to just about any question you would ever have. The FAQ section also has specific questions for players in certain states. This is a major positive, as I often see customer support sections with vague information that’s not actually applicable in your jurisdiction.

Tipico Responsible Gambling

Both the Tipico website and Tipico Sportsbook app link you to responsible gambling resources in your state as soon as you create your account. Tipico also encourages you to set time, spending, and wagering limits on yourself before allowing you to make your first deposit.

Tipico also participates in state-wide exclusion programs that allow players to put themselves “in timeout.” Each of these programs are voluntary and typically have preset time limits. Some can be indefinite, meaning you can remove yourself at any time. Others have one-year minimums.

Tipico State Directory

Tipico entered the US sports betting market in December 2020 when it joined the crowded New Jersey sports betting market. Since 2020, Tipico has entered three more states. The sportsbook also announced a 10-year, multi-state partnership with Caesars in 2021. We expect this deal to lead to Tipico expanding to many more states throughout the 2020s.

New Jersey

New Jersey was the first legal Tipico state in the US. It was also the first legal Tipico sports betting market in North America. Tipico exists in New Jersey through a partnership with the Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City. New Jersey is the home base for Tipico in the US.

Colorado

Tipico launched in Colorado on August 19, 2021. The Centennial State was the second in the US to welcome Tipico. This launch came about through a partnership with Tipico and Century Casinos Inc. in Colorado.

Ohio

While Tipico was late to join the US sports betting market, it was one of the first to enter the Ohio sports wagering industry. Tipico launched in the Buckeye State on January 1, 2023, Ohio’s first day of legal sports betting.

Iowa

Tipico went live in Iowa on January 11, 2023. The sportsbook had actually planned to launch in the Hawkeye State back in 2021 as a part of its partnership with Caesars. Unfortunately, app development and red tape got in the way. Now, all of that is behind them, and Tipico is legal and live in Iowa.
