Play’n GO Receives Alberta Online Gaming License

Swedish gaming company Play’n GO has been given a license to supply online gaming content in Alberta, expanding its presence in the North American-regulated market.

The license was issued by the provincial regulator, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission, and allows the company to provide online casino games to licensed operators in the province.

Alberta’s regulated online gaming market is expected to launch later this summer, on July 13, making it the second province in the country to launch competitive regulated gambling.

Play’n GO already operates in both Ontario and Quebec, and speaking about the new license, the Chief Commercial Officer at Play’n GO, Magnus Olsson, said it was another important step in their expansion.

“Regulated markets are the foundation of our business, and Alberta represents an exciting opportunity to expand our footprint in a jurisdiction that shares our commitment to high standards, player protection and long‑term sustainability,” he added.

In a statement, the company said it has been preparing for entry into the Alberta market by aligning its technology and game offerings with provincial regulatory requirements, and that an initial selection of games is currently undergoing certification before launch.
