Nebraska introduces online sports betting bill
Online sports betting could be coming to the Cornhusker state, as State Senator Eliot Bostar has introduced Legislative Bill 13, which seeks to legalize online sports betting in Nebraska. The bill also aims to lift the ban on betting on in-state college teams, such as the Nebraska Cornhuskers. “Online sports betting is real, and it’s happening in the state,” commented Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen. “Whoever wants to do it is doing it, and we’re giving all the revenue to our neighbors.”
North Texas Commission to study legalizing casino gambling
At the same time, the North Texas Commission (NTC) is forming a committee to explore the effects of legalizing casino gambling and destination resorts in Texas. Set to launch in the fall, the committee will assess economic, infrastructure, and public safety impacts and aims to inform potential legislation for the 2025 session.
Boyd Gaming to replace Jokers Wild with Cadence Crossing Casino
Also last week, Boyd Gaming announced plans to replace Jokers Wild Casino in Nevada with the new Cadence Crossing Casino. Construction will start later this year, with the new property set to open in early 2026. The 10,000-square-foot casino will feature 450 slots, dining options, and live entertainment.
